Essar and West Cheshire Athletic Club proudly present the 2017 Essar Chester Round the Walls race.
The running race is one of the oldest in the country, with the Boxing Day event being run first in 1972 and now in its 46th year.
The event starts and finishes at the Chester Racecourse (the Roodee) the oldest racecourse still used in England.
The race follows the best path to appreciate the city walls and is approximately 6km in length. After leaving the Roodee, participants will take in a stretch of canal towpath with the walls towering above before ascending steps to follow the walls past Chester Cathedral (first built 1093) in a clockwise direction. Passing the iconic Eastgate Clock, runners continue from Roman to Medieval sections of the wall and descend to street level at the River Dee in order to finish back at the racecourse.
Entry cost is £14.00 for UKA Affiliated Runners (£2 Discount will be applied at checkout. Please ensure you use exactly the same name for your race entry as is on your UKA registration card)
West Cheshire AC reserve the right to exercise discretion on return of any funds if the race is cancelled by West Cheshire AC. No refunds will be given for any other circumstance where the entrant does not run in the race.
