Chester Round The Walls Race
West Cheshire Athletic Club proudly present the 2023 Chester Round the Walls race.
The running race is one of the oldest in the country, with the Boxing Day event being run first in 1972. This year's race will the 50th time it has been run.
The event starts and finishes at the Chester Racecourse (the Roodee) the oldest racecourse still used in England.
The race follows the best path to appreciate the city walls and is approximately 6km in length. This year the route takes in 1 full lap of the walls as well as a lap around the racecourse.
The race starts with a lap around the perimeter of the racecourse and then joins the riverside path. The runners will then cross Castle Drive to join the historic city walls for an anti-clockwise lap, passing over the iconic Eastgate clock before returning to the Racecourse via the steps from Nuns Road. After passing in front of the grandstand the race finishes on the grass in the centre of the Roodee.
